RECREATIONAL ACTIVITIES
Recreational activities are offered every evening for the members. These include
organized sports, group activities, ceramic and craft classes, and community events.
EDUCATIONAL ACTIVITIES
Educational programs to assist in developing independent living skills are provided
by staff and volunteers. Cooking classes, computer skills, and bike safety are among
the classes offered at the Center.
SOCIAL ACTIVITIES
The Activity Center offers an inviting atmosphere for members to make new friends, join
in group activities, and interact on a one-to-one basis.
Social activities allow members the opportunity to gradually integrate into the
community. Through interactions with staff and volunteers, members develop the
confidence and self-respect they need to meet the challenges of daily life.
The Activity Center is open Tuesday through Fridays from 4pm-9pm and Saturdays
as scheduled on the monthly calendar. If you would like more information on the
Activity Center, please call (701)235-2444 or check out the
AC Monthly Calendar for a schedule of activities and events.
VOLUNTEERS
Volunteers are a very important part of the Activity Center. They bring new
skills, ideas, and talents to the program. Volunteers affect aspects of the
members' lives in various ways:
Teacher-Role Model:
Continual teaching and learning takes place at the Center. Many classes, such as
the cooking and painting classes, are provided by volunteers. Teaching also takes
place in informal settings, in daily conversation and interaction.
Companionship:
The Activity Center is a place for the members to relax and enjoy themselves. Volunteers
provide someone who will listen, someone who is interested in them for the persons
they are. Time can be spent playing cards, darts, and doing other activities, or just
sitting and sharing experiences.
If you are interested in volunteering at the Activity Center, please call (701)235-2444.
