The primary responsibility of a DSP is to promote the growth, well-being, and autonomy of people we support in order that they may live as independently as possible. The DSP is also responsible to ensure that active treatment is practiced, such as teaching people to act on their own (not doing everything for them), assisting people to cook, clean, and role modeling how to act appropriately. This position is part-time, but the DSP has superior availability for weekends, holidays, and overnight shifts. The DSP will work 20-35 hours a week. The DSP II has few supervisory responsibilities.
