
Vocational Services
Vocational services or Day Support Services (DSS) are designed to assist individuals to work and particpate in the community. By attending community activities, facility based training, pre-vocational training and supported employment, individuals with developmental disabilities and mental illness are provided training to become contributing citizens. Red River Human Services offers Supported Employment (SEP), Day Activity (DA), and Work Activity (WA) in Fargo and Wahpeton, North Dakota.
Day Activity
Day activity provides training in skills needed to further a person's ability to function independently at home and in the community. This services creates opportunities to expereince work by participating in facility based tasks that are individualized to the person's abilities. This may include contract work brought into the facility from businesses in the community or by doing short duration work or volunteering in the community. This day support service is available in Wahpeton and Fargo, North Dakota.
Work ActivityPre-vocational training is provided in Wahpeton, North Dakota. This service prepares people for employment by developing skills needed for being successful on a job. These skills may include problem solving, rule compliance, task completion, safety, and social interaction. Work activities may include contract from business based at the facility, volunteering, and short duration group work in the community. community.
Supported EmploymentSupported employment is for individuals who desire to work at competitive employment. Supported employment provides a job coach that acts as a liason between the business and the individual. As the job coach fades their support the individual takes more responsibility for their success on the job. Eventually the job coach will fade all assistance. Supported employment is offered by Red River Human Services in Wahpeton. This services is offered by other agencies in Fargo.
